Myra Turkish Restaurant & Bar
Tucked away on the scenic Eastern Esplanade of Canvey Island, Myra Turkish Restaurant & Bar is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a little slice of the Mediterranean-no passport required. You’ll find it right at 3, Casino Parade, and while the location boasts seaside charm, it’s what happens inside (and on your plate) that really steals the show.
From the moment you walk in, there’s a warm, ambient vibe that hits differently than your typical Turkish grill joint. It’s polished but not pretentious, and the energy picks up especially around dinner hours when groups of friends gather over shared mezze and cocktails. Whether you’re flying solo for lunch or looking for a lively evening with loved ones, Myra caters to both ends of the spectrum. There’s outdoor seating for sunny afternoons, wheelchair-accessible seating and toilets, and a dine-in service that feels both attentive and relaxed.
What really cements Myra Turkish Restaurant & Bar as a local favourite is the depth and authenticity of its food. Start with the Calamari Starter-perfectly crisp with a side of garlic dip that’s downright addictive. Then there’s the Hummus-smooth, rich, and served with a selection of warm, fresh Breads that have that satisfying wood-fired aroma. But the stars of the menu? That would be the Mixed Kebab platter and the Adana Kofte. The meats are grilled to juicy perfection, spiced just enough to excite but not overpower, and accompanied by fresh salad, pilaf, and sauces that elevate each bite.
For seafood lovers, the Prawn Shish is not to be skipped. It’s grilled over open flame, bathed in herbs and lemon, and comes alive when dipped in Myra’s signature garlic and chilli sauces. Prefer something a bit more indulgent? The Lamb Chops here are thick-cut, charred at the edges, and perfectly pink in the middle.
Desserts are far from an afterthought. The Baklava is flaky and sticky in all the right ways, while the Chocolate Cake and Birthday Cake (yes, they do birthday celebrations with style) hit the sweet spot without being cloying. Pair your dessert with a velvety Espresso Martini or go for something refreshing like the Aperol Spritz or a classic Margarita. The cocktail list is surprisingly sophisticated for a casual Mediterranean spot, and the wine and spirits selection rounds out an already well-balanced drinks menu.
What sets Myra apart from other Turkish restaurants isn’t just the food-it’s the all-around experience. The staff are genuinely friendly, and there’s a rhythm to the service that feels natural. No hovering, no rushing-just well-timed check-ins and cheerful recommendations when asked.
On the drinks front, expect top-notch coffee, quality wines, and a cocktail list that goes beyond the basics. Whether you're in the mood for a bold red to match your kebab, or just a simple cold beer, Myra delivers without a fuss. And for those into late-night dining, they offer small plates and healthy options well into the evening, making it a great pick after sunset strolls along the coast.
If you're the kind of person who judges a place by its ability to balance flavour, ambiance, and service without missing a beat-Myra Turkish Restaurant & Bar checks all the boxes. It's a refreshing mix of authentic Turkish cooking, modern bar culture, and laid-back Canvey Island charm, all served on one deliciously memorable plate.

I often go in to a ‘not tried and tested’ restaurant with a bit of anxiety in my head and it was the same even with this place. The board was inviting and the quiet surrounding too, hence went in. We were welcomed very politely by the staff who helped us with seating as well. We ordered grilled Halloumi, pitta bread, hummus, prawn shish and halloumi kebab. Every single dish was fresh and delightful in taste. The latte was perfect too, given the fact that I rarely finish a cup of coffee and I surprised myself at Myra by relishing the whole cup. The food portions were very filling too. On the whole.. a lovely afternoon to remember, will go back again sometime.
Been here so many times and always treated well. The food is amazing and now my wife has found an amazing Turkish white wine to go with is an added bonus. I would highly recommend if you want to have that feeling of eating abroad in the sunshine then this is a must!!! We came down today to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and just didn’t want to leave price is unbelievable too…… little tip try the liver starter
Had a drive out while visiting relatives in the area and fancied something different for lunch. We were here very early in the afternoon so few customers at that time. Staff were attentive, menu had a wide choice. The food was well presented and very tasty. Will remember to visit again next time we're down here.
Amazing place, always polite and amazing fast staff, food is on point and cocktails are amazing. Been about six times and has only improved since they first opened. The garlic mushroom and halloumi starter is amazing!
Our first visit to Myra's today. We enjoyed a lovely family meal out. We had a 2pm booking. Parking was available just across the road and make sure you pay for it. This can be paid for at the machine with coins or on the app with your phone. We had the restaurant to ourselves and it was very nice. The team was very happy and available to serve and answer any questions we may have had. The restaurant looked very nice, clean and very approachable. We enjoyed lamb shanks, lamb shish, chicken shish with yogurt and a hot sharing plate for starters. There wasn't any pressure to rush or to over spend. Just a lovely, pleasant, well deserved meal out. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.
